Dunki Movie REVIEW: Shah Rukh Khan-Rajkumar Hirani Tell A Tale Of A Horrifying Practice Wrapped In Love, Happiness And Friendship
Rajkumar Hirani directorials have a way of sticking a chord with everyone no matter where they come from. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vikram Kochhar, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal, and Anil Grover, the director's most-awaited project has finally been released after much anticipation. The first collaboration between the actor-director has graced the big screens. Just like his previous movies, Hirani's Dunki too resonates with the audience. The movie, spanning 25 years, leaves one with goosebumps because of its unique script, cinematography, and the talented actors that have come together for the project.

Dunki follows the journey of Hardy, Mannu, Sukhi, Balli, and others’ will to go to London, England and fulfill their dreams. The first half of the movie completely focuses on the group’s efforts to learn English and apply for a visa. However, after a tragedy, they decide to go to London via the Donkey practice which Boman Irani's character informs them about. It is a practice used by immigrants to reach a foreign country by illegally crossing borders. After facing life-threatening experiences, when they finally reach their destination, they are faced with the reality of an immigrant's life.

The movie perfectly encompasses the emotions the main characters in the movie go through. From the love blooming between Khan and Taapsee's characters to the friendship between the group, their bond will warm your heart. Hirani's knack for storytelling is unlike any other director in Bollywood. The background score and songs of the film perfectly blend with the ongoing storyline as well.

Vikram and Anil's characters’ small piques and funny takes throughout the movie will surely leave you chuckling. Despite appearing as a cameo in the movie, Vicky Kaushal's Sukhi leaves a lasting impression. His dedication towards the role leaves one with goosebumps and teary-eyed. The beautifully shot scenes and SRK’s presence leave the theatres hooting and cheering. While SRK as Hardy and Taapsee as Mannu do a very good job of portraying the hardships of their characters, their chemistry feels lacking. Even though the sentiment of ‘loving one's country and the will to return’ is ever present, sometimes the heavy dialogues get a little boring.

In conclusion, the movie is a good family entertainer, one of the many gems made by Rajkumar Hirani that will be forever lauded by the audiences.
